Privacy and cookie policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
D.V. Sound respects your privacy. This policy explains which personal data we collect when you use this website or rent equipment from us, why we do so and what your rights are under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Who is responsible for your data?
The controller of your personal data is David Verhoeven, trading as D.V. Sound, Rue des Petits Marais 6, 7850 Enghien, company number 0507.947.329, VAT BE 0507.947.329.
For every question about your data, contact us at info@dvsound.be.
2. Which data do we collect?
We only collect the data you give us yourself, or that is needed to run the website:
- Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), subject and message.
- Rental request: your first and last name, email address, phone number, the equipment and packs you ask for, the rental period, the pickup and return dates, your delivery address (when you choose delivery), your choices for installation and technical support, and your remarks.
- Rentals: the data needed to prepare, deliver and invoice a rental, such as the confirmed equipment, prices, deposit and payments.
- Technical data: when you visit the website, the server processes your IP address and browser details to deliver the pages and to protect the website against abuse.
3. Why do we use your data?
We use your data only for these purposes, each with its legal basis:
- To answer your questions and rental requests and to send you a quote: steps taken at your request before a contract (art. 6.1.b GDPR).
- To prepare, deliver, install and follow up a rental, including the deposit and any damage: performance of the rental contract (art. 6.1.b GDPR).
- To keep invoices and accounting records: legal obligation (art. 6.1.c GDPR).
- To secure the website and prevent abuse of the forms: our legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f GDPR).
- To measure how the website is used (Google Analytics), only when you allowed analytics cookies: your consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.
We do not use your data for profiling or automated decisions, and we never sell it. We only send you marketing emails if you asked for them.
4. Who receives your data?
We only share your data when that is needed for the purposes above:
- IT service providers that host the website, the database and our email, under a data processing agreement.
- Google: when you type a delivery address and have allowed external media, Google Maps suggests addresses and receives what you type and your IP address. To price the delivery, our server also sends your delivery address (not your IP address) to Google to calculate the driving distance. When you play a video, YouTube (Google) receives your IP address. See Google's privacy policy.
- Google, for the website statistics (Google Analytics), only when you allowed analytics cookies: Google receives your IP address (which it does not store) and data about your visit, such as the pages you view, your browser and your device. Google acts as our processor, and we do not share these data for advertising.
- Our accountant, and authorities when the law requires it.
Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. In that case we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
5. How long do we keep your data?
We keep your data no longer than needed:
- Contact messages and requests that do not lead to a rental: as long as needed to handle them, and at most two years.
- Customer and rental data: for the duration of our business relationship, and invoices and accounting records for as long as Belgian accounting and tax law requires.
- Technical server logs: a few weeks, unless they are needed to investigate abuse.
6. Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar techniques, such as local storage, are treated the same way here. We do not use advertising cookies.
Strictly necessary cookies are always on, because the website cannot work without them:
- dvs-rental-list: remembers the equipment and packs on your rental list (product and pack numbers with their quantities, no personal data). It expires 7 days after your last change and is removed as soon as your request is sent.
- .AspNetCore.Antiforgery: protects the contact and rental request forms against forged submissions. It is removed when you close your browser.
- dvs-consent: remembers your cookie choice. It expires after 6 months, after which we ask again.
External media are only loaded with your consent. When you allow them, these Google services can set their own cookies or use local storage and receive data such as your IP address, under Google's privacy and cookie policy:
- Google Maps: suggests addresses while you type a delivery address. Without consent the address field still works, without suggestions.
- YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com): plays the product videos, only when you click play. Without consent you can still play a single video after a notice.
Analytics cookies are only placed with your consent. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are used, so we can improve the website. Google Analytics does not store IP addresses, and we have turned off Google signals and data sharing for advertising. The cookies _ga and _ga_<id> tell visits apart and expire after 13 months; the statistics are kept for 14 months. When you withdraw your consent, we remove these cookies.
The fonts of this website are served from our own server, so no data goes to Google Fonts.
You give or refuse your consent in the cookie banner, and you can change or withdraw it at any time through "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent and does not affect what happened before. You can also view and delete cookies in your browser settings; if you block the strictly necessary cookies, the rental list and the forms will not work.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. Send your request to info@dvsound.be; we answer within one month. We may ask you to prove your identity.
If you think we do not handle your data correctly, please contact us first. You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données), Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels, www.dataprotectionauthority.be.
8. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss and unauthorised access, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access to our systems.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when we add new services or cookies. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
